Bikram Yoga Training Facility

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess has gone to great lengths to meet the needs of Bikram Teacher Trainees. From the rooms to the food to the training facilities themselves, the staff of the hotel has accommodated virtually every need. We are lucky and happy to have found our new home here!

The Hotel Grounds

The Fairmont Acapulco Princess hotel sits on over 480 acres of legendary scenery. Tucked away on Revolcadero Beach, 20-minutes from the bustle of downtown and a few minutes from the airport, the main 15-story Aztec pyramid-shaped building, plus two towers, gardens, pools, golf course, and more cater to the desires of its' guests.

Reception takes place in an open-air lobby flanked by charming fountains. Outside, five free-form swimming pools - one a saltwater lagoon - grace the property, surrounded by gardens containing over 750 plant species and sheltering a colorful assortment of swans, flamingos and tropical birds.

In addition, the hotel can meet your practical needs with an onsite deli/café, a convenience store with sundries and other basic items, a spa/hair salon, and an on-site medical doctor. In addition, several restaurants and room service are available.

Mexico lovers from all over the world know Acapulco for its blend of tropical scenery - beaches, hilly jungles, white capped Pacific seas- and dynamic array of nightclubs, restaurants and discos.

The Training Facilities

Perhaps the most exciting part of this training facility is the Yoga Room itself - cutting edge, it was built in the Spring of 2008 and can hold up to 500 people! The top-of-the-line ventilation system allows for even heat and a constant flow of oxygen. The high ceiling, light-colored carpet, and walls of mirrors create a very open feeling in which to practice Bikram Yoga.

Additionally, unlike years past, we are fortunate to have a comfortable lecture hall for classes, lectures, films and other large-group presentations. There are enough chairs to accommodate everyone. Further, smaller-group Posture Clinics are held in rooms that typically function as hotel suites; some have even have ocean views!

Room & Board

In addition to tuition (US$6,600), mandatory room & board are required at a cost of US$3900 double-occupancy, or US$8,000 for single occupancy.

The cost of the room includes a daily brunch buffet packed with a mix of nutritional choices. Fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods along with made-to-order Omelet and Quesadilla stations are included. Within the international buffet, most special diets are accommodated - be it vegetarian, vegan, raw food, or wheat-free.

The guestrooms in the hotel are comfortable and well appointed. You will find plenty of room to house your clothes, food items, and other learning materials. The closets are vast, all rooms have balconies, and the open floor plan creates a feeling of spaciousness. Each person is provided a small refrigerator in the room. Some rooms have Internet access in the room, while others can access wireless Internet service in the main lobby. It is recommended that all trainees join the Fairmont President's Club in order to access free Internet for the duration of your stay.

Nearby

In close proximity to the hotel are several large stores to purchase food and sundries. A van service is provided over the evening break, as well as on weekends, to shuttle trainees to and from these locations. There are a variety of local and chain fast-food and sit-down restaurants just outside the hotel grounds as well.

The heart of Acapulco is a mere 20-minute drive away, and the hotel Taxi service will take you into town to enjoy some of the local markets, restaurants and the famed cliff divers.

Etiquette

It is asked that all trainees wear cover-ups while going to and from Yoga class. Being cognizant of other guests, it is important that trainees uphold a respectful appearance and attitude in their presence. Cover-ups can be easily purchased at nearby stores, from beachside vendors, or at the hotel swim shop.
